As holidays approach plans are underway in most of the people’s mind on which destination they want to visit. The best place to be where you can have fun in a beach is the Pismo state beach where you will also enjoy bird watching which is a popular activity there. In the US it’s the park which has the largest over – wintering colony of Monarch butterflies. The park is located in the town of Oceano off Highway 1.
Lots of beach activities and surprises at Pismo Beach
The beach at Pismo has a lot of other activities and tour and ride operators give you a unique perspective of the central coast in the area. Some of these activities are bi-plane rides, guided nature tours, Hearst Castle which is a must see attraction. It is a 55 miles drive and there are four tours daily. There are also Hummer dune tours, sea kayaking, and wine country.
Pismo Beach has an abundance of wildlife and the famous Pismo clams are known to everyone. The Splash Cafe is world famous for their excellent clam chowder.
Pismo Beach is abundant in wildlife as well. The Monarch Butterfly Grove located in the southern boundary is a spectacular attraction starting around mid November. There are also sea animals like Otters, Elephant seals, and you could also see a whale just offshore.
In addition, the beach has sport activities as well like horse riding on the beach, fishing off the pier and kite surfing when the wind is right. There are also trails to explore. At the park you can also do shopping and rentals are also available. You can also visit Price Historical Park, Pismo Bowl, mineral springs, and San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum.
Dinosaur Caves Park, Pismo Beach
Dinosaur Cave Park is an ocean front bluff top park which measures 11 acres and very popular with photographers, walkers, joggers, dog lovers, and fishing enthusiasts. The park has other amenities like wedding overlook, a grassy reception area and an amphitheater for entertainments events which are available for hire on hourly basis. There is an off-street parking and parking which are also offered.
In addition there is a unique play area which is found in the park and it includes two concrete dolphins, Oreo the Orca whale, the USS IMAGINATION, a fine galleon, three playful seals, one gentle dinosaur and three beautiful dinosaur eggs.
Art at the park takes place every first Sunday of the month from 10am – 4pm in month of May through November. During the event over 100 local artists and craftsmen display and also sell their work which includes painting, pottery, glass, textiles, wood, jewelry and metal furniture and other things. The event also features, hands – on children, music, fresh flowers and plants, an onsite massage and a BBQ.
